Extraordinary features of the “red diamonds”
Goji berries or wolfberries are known in Asia as “red diamonds” and are characterized by fruits that color orange to red. Interestingly, each berry has up to 60 seeds which ripen from June to October.
Due to their extraordinary nutritional properties including antioxidant feature, they are traditionally used in Chinese medicine. In other words, goji berries are famous for being able to reduce the destructive effect of free radicals which, as we probably already know, cause premature aging not to mention they are the main responsible for a number of mutations taking place in the body.
Precisely these berries are considered super food which helps revitalize the body and slow down the aging process, so my dear ladies, we suggest you to use that!
Other than having anti-oxidant property, goji berries are also rich in vitamin C and iron as well as a myriad of other nutrients and phytochemicals. They contain 18 amino acids (8 of which are essential), vitamins (riboflavin also known as vitamin B2, vitamin C), minerals (zinc, selenium, potassium), and unsaturated fatty acids. There is also LA (linoleic acid) and ALA (alpha linoleic acid) which play a vital role in proper functioning of the nervous system. Furthermore, goji berries help reduce cholesterol levels, protect the cells from mutation, improve memory and have a calming effect on the body.
As it is already mentioned, goji berries are represented in traditional Chinese and Japanese medicine due to their power to strengthen the immune system, improve vision, protect liver and kidneys, improve circulation and are also excellent for lowering blood pressure, help in treating back pain and, in addition, are reported to be favorable for skin and complexion. Sounds good, isn’t it?
In conclusion, let’s just add that goji berries are believed to be “the lucky berries” because if consummated regularly, will help improve the general condition of the body, instantly boost the energy levels thereby assisting in greater body’s endurance.
Indeed, small-sized, yet packed with nutrients, goji berries represent a must-eat food on your menu.
