Cold and flu these days seem to take their toll. Hence, we give you a recipe that will give joy in terms of flavor and satisfaction in knowledge you’re doing the best to boost your immune system and smooth(ie) your way to cold and flu. One of the main ingredients of this smoothie is kumquat, a citrus fruit endowed with an exquisite taste sweet and sour at the same time. It looks like an orange, only it is much smaller, size like a large olive. Unlike orange, kumquat is to be eaten unpeeled.
Besides being an excellent fruit to combat cold and flu, it’s interesting that it can also serve as breath freshener.
Ingredients for smoothie (2 people):
- 30 pieces of kumquat
- 1 mango (peeled and cubed)
- 180 g of yoghurt
- 200 ml of almond milk
- 5 – 6 dices of ice
- 1 tablespoon of honey
- ½ teaspoon of cinnamon
- some nutmeg
- some vanilla extract
Preparation:
- Give kumquats a thorough wash and cut them in half lengthwise and remove seeds if any.
- Put all ingredients from the recipe in a processor and blend at the highest speed until it becomes homogenous.
