Summer, or to clarify, the sun and the sea help us rest mentally and physically. But, what happens with our hair after summer is over? Sea salt and the sun have left marks on our hair, dyed or not. What can we do to reduce damage so our hair can look seductive and healthy again? Read on and learn the ABC’s of after summer hair care.
Dry hair is a very common thing after summer which affects every woman at least once in a life. Thanks to the exposure to the sun, sea or chlorinated water, hair becomes brittle and frizzy. This happens due to the lack of proteins, essential constituent of hair. Afford your hair a treatment with hot oil. Heat the oil (olive, coconut or argan oil) in a dish to a comfortable temperature. Apply the oil along the whole length of your hair. Tie your hair and cover it with a plastic shower cap. Wrap your hair in a warm towel and leave it on for at least half an hour. Another way to enrich your hair with proteins is of course, through food. Eat protein rich foods or use keratin hair mask you can buy in specialized stores. They’ll also do the trick and bring back volume to your hair too.
Split ends mean only one thing – you need a haircut. If you like long hair, this is something you’d probably want to skip, but, unfortunately, there is no other way but cutting. Any other treatment which promises you something different is false and works only on healthy hair. What these treatments actually do is smooth hair so that split ends are not that much visible, which doesn’t mean they are gone. Don’t shun away from cutting your hair. It is precisely due to split ends that your hair can look bad and thin. Ideal trimming should be done every 6 -8 weeks. This will prevent cutting off more hair than necessary.
Dyeing hair after summer
The sun is considered the biggest enemy when it comes to those gorgeous color pigments we get after dyeing our hair. It simply removes them and the color fades. Therefore, dye your hair after summer. You can use wash out hair color or ammonia-free hair colors that will not damage your hair. Choose rich colors like chocolate brown, dark red or blonde, depending on which best suits your skin tone.
Use shampoos that’ll help strengthen the roots since the biggest shed occurs in late summer and early autumn. Herbal shampoos are the best choice for this such as nettle or burdock shampoo. Don’t ever rub your hair with a towel. Tie a turban from a towel and wait until it absorbs all the excess water. Then comb your hair with a wide-tooth comb.
Shiny and luxurious hair

If you have normal hair type, use a whole egg. For those who have greasy hair, an egg white will do. An egg yolk will be helpful to those with dry and brittle hair. Whisk an egg or two, depending on the length of your hair, a tablespoon of high-fat yogurt and a tablespoon of honey. Spread the mask along the entire length of your hair. Wrap your hair with a plastic shower cap and a towel and keep it on for 20 to 30 minutes and then wash off. All these ingredients are rich in proteins and fats which will restore your hair completely.
