Tanned skin reminds us of summer and vacation. And it’s true that certain clothes look better on tanned skin. For this reason, many of us are willing to invest effort in achieving this look, so it would be a shame it all goes to waste soon after we return from our vacation. But, how to keep your skin tanned?
Tanned skin throughout the entire year
If you would like to keep that gorgeous bronze color of your skin as longer as possible, you have to know – it will fade eventually. But, until this happens, try to see the best ways to keep your skin tanned.
Depilation and exfoliation
Cut down exfoliation and peeling to a minimum. Though peeling is good for skin – it rejuvenates it – but this is not what you’re going for now since peeling removes not only dead skin cells, but tan as well. The same thing happens with depilation. Wax or shaver, it doesn’t matter, each method removes the surface layer of the skin. Hence, try to postpone depilation or at least use electric shavers which prevent getting in direct contact with the skin.
Nurture your skin
In order to keep your beautiful tanned skin as longer as possible, you should moisturize your skin. Buy lotion specially designed for dry skin, it will prevent flaking of the skin. Additional protection may be achieved if you use oil baths or shampoos which contain moisturizing ingredients. Also, make sure you don’t rub the body after a shower/bath with rough towels. Gently pat your body dry and use soft towels. This is the best way to soak up the excess water.
Nurture your skin from the inside out
Hydration, hydration and some more hydration. The basic rule of a healthy life, but tanned skin too is hydration. Providing your body with enough water is vitally important if you want to hydrate your skin and maintain elasticity. Eat foods rich in antioxidants, especially carotenoids. Fill your plate with red, orange, yellow and green fruits and vegetables.
However, as stated, naturally tanned skin has its “expiration date” and when the time comes, you may opt for self-tanning sun lotions. But, if you want this to be as natural as it can be, try this traditional recipe used by our grannies. Fill your bathtub with walnut leaves which are known to have natural tanning properties. Once to twice a week enjoy this walnut bath until you notice the results. You can also try out coffee beans or black tea instead of walnut leaves. But, note it’ll take time until you notice visible results, still, fabulous bronze ten is guaranteed. Of course, you can always resort to a solarium, but don’t exaggerate and let it be the last and least used option.
Tanned skin is a desirable feature throughout the whole year, not just during summer. And with the help of these few tips, you can enjoy it even longer. All in all, don not forget that as long as your skin is healthy, it’s beautiful, color or tan despite.
